In June 2017, the Franchise Tax Board suspended 1LDR and stripped it of its nonprofit tax exempt status. 1LDR purchases puppies from ranchers in the Fresno area for a small fee and sells them for $500-$900 to unsuspecting consumers believing they are rescuing a dog.
