Somebody please help me to decide which one of these plants will work well on my patio!!!

In a search for nice flowers for our roof top patio, we have run into several bumps on the road. One of them quite upsetting to me but this one applies to Canada (or at least Toronto) in general.

It’s the beginning of summer and there are NO flower-plants left in Canadian Tire garden centre. Well neither there are in Home Depot really - only green plants - hardly any flowers.
(Just as it’s before xmass and there are no xmass lights left in the stores, or its the middle of summer and there are no bathing suits left in the stores or middle of winter and there are no ski pants left in the stores)

I know, I know, I should have done this in spring, but in spring there was no need for me to get my patio ready and get some potted flowers. With the condo development craze happening right now, there has got to be such a huge market for those who don't have gardens but patios that require potted stuff like this. Yet there are none to find in the places that one would think feed into this market.

And on top of the sad fact of under supplied stores, the staff in this particular location is incredible. Phlegmatic, non-caring attitude, working for your hourly pay, annoyed with the fact its a hot weather, leaving mess everywhere, not cleaning up the surroundings, not even refreshing the stock being offered.

It very much reminded me retail assistants in communism where I grew up, only to come to such great and develop country to face this again ;-)

I did wonder though and I should have tried (cuz it would have been hilarious) … would they actually sell me these if I brought them up to the cash register? (see the photos below)

I soooo should have done that ... because now I don't have that great of a story to share :-)

My guess is YES, they would definitely sell it to me and NO, they wouldn’t even discount the 1/2 dead plants, since they wouldn’t even bother actually looking at them or even looking into my face.

Have you tried Sheridan Nurseries??, they usually have a pretty good selection throughout the year and the staff are very very helpful.
