I have brought my son’s Xbox console to uBreakiFix several times, including for the same recurring HDMI issue, but today’s experience at the South Loop location was completely different and very disappointing.

The employee at the front desk quoted me approximately $200 and said an additional $50 cleaning fee would be mandatory if the console had not been cleaned. I understand recommending a cleaning, but an additional service should be clearly explained and offered as an option—not automatically treated as mandatory before the console is even inspected.

When I asked him to enter my phone number and review my previous service history, he repeatedly insisted that I had previously brought in an Xbox One and that this was not the same console. I explained that it was the same console I had brought there several times, but he continued going back and forth with me as if I were lying about my own property. If an employee entered the wrong console model during a previous visit, that was not my mistake.

He then told me not to raise my voice and asked, “Do you want the service or not?” His attitude was dismissive and unprofessional, so I requested my console back and left without receiving service.

The last HDMI repair for this console was a little over $100—not approximately $200. I have contacted corporate requesting copies of all my previous receipts and service records, an itemized explanation of today’s price, and clarification about whether the $50 cleaning charge is actually mandatory.

I have used uBreakiFix several times before, but after being treated as though I was dishonest and spoken to so disrespectfully in front of my daughter, I will not return to this location.

I brought my iPhone 15 Pro Max in to have the screen repaired through my insurance. Before taking my phone, the employee behind the counter personally walked me through the steps to unlock it and confirmed that it was successfully unlocked. After spending about 20 minutes trying to submit my insurance claim, I finally got it approved, and they accepted my phone and told me the repair would take about two hours.

When I returned, I was told that my phone had not actually been unlocked and that I would need to submit another claim. This was confusing because the employee had already verified that the phone was unlocked before accepting it for repair.

To make matters worse, when my phone was returned to me, it appeared to have signs of water damage that were not present when I dropped it off. I left with my iPhone in worse condition than when I brought it in, and my original screen issue was never repaired.

The entire experience was frustrating and unprofessional. It felt like there was no intention of completing the repair from the beginning, despite my paying for insurance specifically to cover situations like this. Instead of helping resolve the issue, it seemed like excuses were made to avoid honoring the claim. I expect my phone to be returned in at least the same condition it was received, and I would like this matter investigated and resolved promptly.

Very detailed explanation on my device issue after a quick turnaround time on my diagnostic! Gave me a reasonable quote within budget and executed the repair very well and now my device is good as new! I recommend this shop and it’s services to all who may not be tech savvy enough to repair at home!

I brought my phone in to get serviced and Anthony was so patient with me bc I forgot my Apple ID . He also was very thorough in his explanation about the possible outcomes. He gave me a 1-2 hr time frame and had my repair done within an hr. He was very pleasant. He saved my trip because I was from out of town and my phone had everything I needed on it . Thank you again. EDIT (April 18th 2026): I had to take back my initial 5 stars. This really saddens and disappoints me. I went in a second time for a touch screen problem, and they told me they'll run diagnostics, which takes 1-2 days. After they were done, they called me to inform me it is "most likely a motherboard problem" so I might as well get a new phone. After picking up the phone and giving it to someone else, they replaced the screen, and it worked! And they even told me the person who worked on my screen the first visit forgot to add warranty on my repair. So, I wasn't even eligible.
