During the summer of 2016, we contacted Bath Fitter Winnipeg on Johnson Avenue. We specifically asked about shifting in our summer residence and how it would effect the installation of their wall unit. The sales manager 'strongly recommended' that we discuss this with their consultant since shifting was not covered under their warranty. (Note: There is no mention of this on the invoice/brochure. It was only pointed out to us since we asked the direct question. Unethical business practice.)
The consultant arrived at our home in August 2016. We discussed shifting and provided examples how it already effected our home. We did not authorize the installation until the consultant further conferred with another member of the Bath Fitter Family Business. The consultant phoned us and REASSURED us that there would be ' no worries' with the installation. Only after receiving this assurance, did we proceed with authorizing the work for August 2016. Initially, we were very pleased with the overall appearance and experience with the installer. Two months later, we closed our seasonal home. In February 2017, we drove out to our residence and were shocked to find a large crack (see photo) between the wall and the tub. We phoned/e-mailed Bath Fitter Winnipeg and sent photos. We were told by the service manager that this was not covered by their warranty. We stated that we were aware of this, but had been assured by their consultant that this would not be a concern in our situation. The service manager offered a 'one time bandaid fix' to repair the gaping crack. We did not accept this offer since we knew this would be an ongoing problem. He also mentioned that a 'high volume of their service calls' were directly related to shifting. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HEARD ABOUT SERVICE CALLS. Had we been made aware of this by the sales manager/consultant/service manager we would never have consented to this bathroom renovation.
We were deceived by Bath Fitter Winnipeg. We depended on the judgment of their consultant to advise us as consumers what would be most effective in our residence. Bath Fitter Winnipeg omitted pertinent information in regards to the high volume service calls.
Bath Fitter Winnipeg will have this unresolved complaint on their Better Business profile until 2020.
We DO NOT RECOMMEND this franchise to other residents in Manitoba or Ontario. Customer service is non-existent and the employees are not to be trusted. This is NOT a company a consumer should be involved with: CONSUMER BEWARE.
