The client service was lacking in that no questions were asked when I explained the purpose of event along with its protocols. I do not have a background in event planning and requirements so thought the representative would have the expertise to guide me through this process. Well, no such thing happened. A lack of knowledge and unwillingness to understand our needs up front resulted in an event that was fair at best and food that was very inconsistent and being gauged for the little extras.

We used Bytown Catering for our wedding in February at the Museum of Nature. We had chosen an Elite menu option and we couldn't be more pleased. Food was such an integral part of the evening and everyone was raving.

I was in talks with Bytown for my wedding but didn't end up going with them. I was referred to them by a supervisor at the Museum of Science and Tech in Ottawa. She mentioned they had done a fantastic job of catering weddings and other events held there, and that she was going to use them for her upcoming wedding as well. They are also one of only five caterers that the Museum deals with for catering. On the phone with Bytown, one lady was very nice but on another call another lady was quite snippy about certain questions that I had (questions that involved bringing down the price of the event). I guess she wanted to make more money on our event, and understandably so, it's all business. But it was way too obvious and I was happy when we decided to go with a different venue and therefore different caterer. Perhaps they do a lovely job of catering, but I was not impressed by the customer service.

ByTown catered oour anniversary cocktail party, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. The service provided by ByTown truly made the event of our 25th anniversary a night to remember. Several people asked for caterers name.

Food was delicious -- however we ordered 120 meals for 105 people at the wedding, they were still missing 6 meals. When we spoke with the OWNER -- he replied "well there was enough food, the chef just plated it incorrectly" and therefore was not willing to refund the meals!!! We were SHOCKED to say the least.
Service was also horrible. We asked for the waiters to service the wine - they charged us for an extra three waiters which we gladly accepted. There were NUMEROUS times when there was no one to be found, and glasses empty. Guests started serving themselves.

The setup the night before the wedding - they were supposed to be there at 3pm, they showed up at 7pm, leaving me (Bride) and the Groom at the reception hall until 1030pm the night before the wedding.

We were willing to resolve this with the owner himself - he made no apologies, simply made excuses.
