Since the Heartland's Midland location now shares a director located in Bad Axe. MI, the care has gone through so many negative changes its hard to keep up with what to expect. The weekly 2x RN visit for my mother has gone from 1 to 2 visits. I requested to re-up the visits to twice weekly again and the RN case manager did not even acknowledge my request.
When I mentioned we take moms vitals daily, the RN questioned why we are doing that and what would we do if they aren't normal. We'll, this may be difficult to comprehend, but it potentially would enable us to notice a decline in mom's condition in a timely manner, in order to notify children, family, loved ones, etc with the desire to be with mom during her last days or hours, especially since mother only has 1 RN visit in a 168 hour period, unless we call for an AFTER HOURS OR WEEKEND VISIT. At the last RN visit, when the RN failed to listen to mother's heart, I had to request that basic care.
The availability and continuity of supplies has dramatically gone downhill, with weekly dollar amount limits now in place.
It is a FOR PROFIT business. Profits are are now #1. We signed up for Heatland thinking we would have a similar experience that my father had 6 years ago. It was then based on compassion, care and support. Very unfortunate since currently other care members (chaplain, bath aide, social worker) continue caring with compassion as a priority.

This is my mom's and my first experience with a home health care company. We were fortunate enough to have Kim O. as mom's nurse. She's professional, caring and goes above and beyond to care for not only her but me, my mom's daughter.
