As the coordinator of a well established and popular day spa in scituate, I can attest to Joan's natural ability and passion in her work. In my four years meeting client after client, there was never any dissappointment! I witnessed nothing but rebooking and complete satisfaction from clients of 15+years, presidents of colleges, local celebrity, and anyone who was fortunate enough to hear about her way with what comes natural. What joan possesses is nothing that can be "taught". She could handle just about anything or anyone that came her way! Whether it was large grown men, petite women, or teenagers. There was a comfort level consistently and clearly shown with every visit. Joan handled her clients with such care and met their individual needs. You will not only experience warmth and kindness exuding from Joan, but she gives you her time and attention in a professional and generous manner. As the first and last person to encounter and farewell, I often had to jokingly ensure that they were ok to drive. Reason being, most came out beyond relaxed, ready for their cumber infused water, and on most occasions - like butter....

The talented and skilled Ms. Purcell is back in the building. ( see also see my review on Yelp)I am thrilled to learn that Joanie is back with practice in a new space. Although I know that she has been practicing privately since working for a successful South Shore spa, it is best that she share her knowledge with a broader audience! I was new to massage, avoiding spending time and money on what I thought was a luxury and instead because of pain issues related to former cancer treatment, I gave it a try. In medicine, the doctors try their hardest, in general, to heal the patient. The touch though, involves needles, pulled tape, painful procedures, not to mention the joyful mammography machine. As an RN, i know of therapeutic touch when it was introduced in the 1980's, a great step in the right direction to counteract the assaults of medical interventions and illness. Ms. Purcell uses touch and presence through techniques that demonstrate much training, education and more than that, what can't be taught in typical way, the ability to create confident connection in a safe, secure and peaceful space. Give her your story, tell her how your body feels in your daily life and she'll collaborate with you and make your own personal prescription for healing in this way. She does this in a true spirit of kindness and I can attest that you will be able to measure the ways in which this modality is helping your body and mind in a positive way. There is release involved of whatever it is you need to let go of and there were many times when I wondered if she had 4 hands instead of 2. You have no doubt that she loves her work.
