I’m extremely disappointed by our experience at Chatham Children’s Store today. My husband, our eight-year-old son, and I walked in ready to shop and spend money. Whenever we travel, we make a point of finding a local toy or children’s store so our son can pick out something special.

Unfortunately, almost immediately after entering, the man behind the counter began watching me and following my movements in a way that made me feel as though he assumed I was going to steal something. For reference, I am a Latina woman of color visiting from Napa Valley, California. His behavior was so obvious and uncomfortable that I finally decided I was not going to spend my money in a store where I was being treated like a potential criminal instead of a customer.

We walked out without purchasing anything.

No customer should be made to feel watched, profiled, or unwelcome simply for walking into a store. What should have been a fun stop with our eight-year-old son turned into an embarrassing and offensive experience.

Based on the way I was treated today, I absolutely would not recommend Chatham Children’s Store. There are plenty of businesses on Cape Cod that make visitors feel welcome and appreciate their business. Unfortunately, this was not one of them.

Very charming shop. One of our last stops out of Chatham and the Cape. Got some fun toys and games for my toddler for our 12-hour-plus ride back home. I'll definitely stop in again.

I had stopped by this charming little toy store last week while visiting Chatham. They had a pretty good selection of toys. The toys were mostly geared towards
younger kids. There was a backroom full of cute outfits for infants and little girls . This is an ideal shop for picking out a gift.

A fun local toy shop that's got something your little girl or boy will find fun. Board games, puppets, action figures, dolls, LEGOs. It's a small store so dont expect a zillion options. There's also a nice clothing store/section attached where we often find something new each year we visit fir our little one.

Fun little shop in Chatham with a wide variety of toys from LEGO, Brio, Bruder, Playmobil, etc. Your kids will definitely want to get something so don't bring them in here unless you're willing to buy them something!
