Had a water leak appear inside the house above a window. After window was removed it revealed extensive damage to the framing. Was it a one off? No, every window we checked had water damage one extent to another. I repeat, every window we checked had leaked. So no, not a one off, they are just outright defective windows.
We are replacing all our windows now as we have zero confidence in any of the windows. Note, until the water showed up inside we had no idea they were leaking. Windows are deeply recessed and the water leaks directly on to the framing below it. If you have these windows I would be very concerned.
See photos, the vinyl strip on the bottom sill of the window was installed as an attempt to fix/slow the leak. Anyway, I can't get these windows replaced fast enough, they are complete and utter garbage that will cause a lot of damage to your home.

Sorry for your dilemma but the leak is obviously not the window. Poor installation. When you describe the damage please note water always causes major damage inside the walls. Showing pictures of your damaged walls says nothing about the window itself. Mason did not install them.

Aftercare does not seem to their forte. Customer service and satisfaction is not their number one concern as it should be. Bad news travels faster than good news. One year later still waiting for a replacement sealed unit. Three times now sent incorrect size. Correct dimensions taken by rep after sevond attempt. Still coming back wrong size. This is not rocket science Mason! However, no one there has shown they care.

I built my present home in 1996-97 and in my opinion I do not think I could have a better choice than purchasing Mason Windows. They consist of 13 casement windows and 5 sliders.all top grade low E ,cranks locks and sliders work now as well as they did when I installed them with 1 exception my son broke off the end knob of 1 crank (2-3$) repair was None have leaked water nor have they degassed . I installed and sealed them silicone and insulated them with low expansion foam . I did crack the inside glass on 1 slider as I was installing (My fault) I called Mason, explained what happened and they sent me a replacement free of charge. I also had 1 other problem again my fault ,when I bought the case of low expansion insulating foam i also bought a couple of cans of regular foam and by mistake insulated 1 window with the regular foam that bowed the frame enough that it would not open. I removed the insulation and after a day or 2 the frame returned to its normal position and all was good .What more could anyone ask for.

Has anoyne had issues with the outside window casings fading. My windows are supposed to be a tan colour. Our house is not quite three years old and a little over a year ago, when the house was not quite two years we noticed the windows fading to a green colour. I have several neighbours facing the same issue. Mason indicated the only thing they will do is spraying a coating on the windows. Has anyone heardof that being done. How well will it last. How does that affect the resale value. Also they are deducting the three years warrantee and are only willing to give us the remaining seven years warrantee. I think Mason Windows sells poor quality windows. I reside in Kemptville, On.

Installed on John Boddy house, been an issue since day one. Cranks always break, the casement or cladding around the windows bows, so no window will open, seal gone on two of them. Mother in law had Mason window too, her comment sh#t. Go elsewhere. Contacting them was useless too. Likely will tell you its your fault., you don't know how to operate. Photos to come

Excellent service from the Salesman. I've bought on three different occasions and always get the help and attention I need. I know there was a problem with wood windows but this has been corrected . I'm happy to buy again.

Wish there was lower rating. I bought the house in 2008 (Monarch Home) at Bradley Estates, Ottawa east End. One month in the house and started leaking, the Window was poorly installed, monarch sent his people to fix it and the add some caulking and that stopped the leaking (so I thought), time goes by, and I have water leaking inside the house, and I did try everything, I checked everything, finally I decided to seal the windows doors (not able to crank anymore) , finally the water stopped leaking, I repeat, I had to seal with silicon the windows doors to stop the leaks, and now I can't open the windows (LOL), bad bad bad, I Do recommend these windows.

This is the second home we've replaced all windows and doors with Mason windows in the past 20+ years.
Our experience has been that we get a good quality window for a reasonable price. Never any issues with deliveries and we have only had 1 window where there was an issue. This window had a crack and was replaced in just a few days, no cost and no questions asked.

I cant believe the poor ratings this company is getting!
I have a Mattamy home built in 1995 with Mason windows and not one has had any issues.
and these are wood casements.
Yes they required painting and recaulking but they have held up well with no/zero cracks or seal issues.
Furthermore, have called them for vinyl clad quote and they are by far, the most reasonable.

This should really be rated as no stars. My windows never did seal correctly. Rep. (he was ignorant) was sent out and was supposed to install new fasteners for the latch he installed about 3 then left and didn't install of of them. He then left all the uninstalled fasteners on my steps after saying "oh they"re easy to install just unscrew the old ones" come to find out all the screw holes in vinyl frame where they secure are stripped out. That's why he left in such a hurry, and there is no fix. The windows leak and I have 2 cranks that are broken. Stay away from this manufacturer.

Monarch should be enbrassed they installed such crap in a half million dollar house. Rusted screws, cranks breaking. Worst of all an 8 foot sliding door with parts falling off that cant stay on a track. Hasnt worked since I moved in in 2009. Mason came twice after repeated phone calls, guy was rude and problem persists. Congrats Mason you win, and Monarch has moved on to the next lowest bidder. Ive a 2500 new door in my future.

Doubtful the door was even made by Mason. Didn't make 8 ft doors in 2009. Cranks break from force because you turn the roto the wrong way or forget to open the upper lock. Children, teens ,are notorious for this abuse. There is no difference between this window and most other manufactures.

Several homes in the new subdivision with cracked windows. Company unwilling to replace. By these reviews, I see that this shouldn't come as a surprise. Stay away.

Cracked glass is not warrantied by most anyone. Read the warranty. There are many factors that can cause glass to crack. Some windows may have cracked in the subdivision, and were probably replaced prior to occupancy. These general statement always sound worse than it it is. Your car glass can crack too.

"When" your windows, units or patio doors fail, this is the WORST company to deal with. Being RUDE must be an employee requirement before being hired. It takes weeks and weeks for a replacement to arrive, where other manufacturer's can you get product to you with 7 - 10 business days.

Had a Jeffery Homes house built in 2008 with all Mason windows. Several windows failed within the first 2 years, i.e. moisture between the panes. They replaced them with some hassles trying to get it done. A few more windows went and were replaced again. Now January of 2015 we have 8 currently that are failed. What a JOKE! They do offer a prorated price to purchase replacement windows but you also have to pay for installation. But why, when the outcome of failed windows is almost certain?? My experience with Mason windows is very bad. FYI, most neighbours that I've talked to including in an older phase have similar experiences.

They make an ok window.
I wouldn't order from them in on a tight timeline, they were fairly slow in delivery my windows.
Service is slow, but they do a good job.
They are a decent price, much lower than some others.
Overall, I will have to see how these hold up.

New home built by Monarch, windows and doors contracted to Mason Windows. We have two large front facing windows, both leaked profusely to the point where the evidence came when dry wall began to crumble after the water leaked through the insulation. Water also leaked into basement and main floor as the water tracked its way from the windows through the walls as it damaged drywall and other materials over time. I called Mason, could not get through, had left four messages and never heard back. Eventually after about a year of trying I got through and they gave me the same story as others experienced, they don't warranty past the first two years and were very short and uninterested in speaking about the issues. Every window in the house leaked along its interior sill, so I caulked the interior and exterior seams of the inner and outer parts of the windows that I could reach. I didn't have to remove caulking because there was no caulking in the first place beyond the leaky pressure fit sealer between the glass and the trim of the window frame. This new caulking stopped the leaking of most of the windows, except the two larger front windows so I hired professionals and they too could not find all the holes or gaps after routine spot checks and caulking. Plus the windows are thin and the slightest wind makes you think the windows will crack or blow in and break. Plus the windows systems fail and actually they are a pain to open and close because of the design of the locking handles. On a positive note, the widows do allow light in, at least they do that much. Stay away from this company if you have a choice to customize, or check with your track builder before purchasing their offered model homes if you have a choice in that too.

This is not a case of leaking windows. The builder did not install them correctly. If you recaulked them then obviously it wasn't done correctly in the first place. Mason is not an installer. They contract to the builder. Water can do all kinds of damage and if the window is not installed properly could leak. This homeowner did not buy the windows from Mason. Mason determined the problem was installation and refused to correct the builders mess. If you had to call 4 times to complain about it , you didn't get the message. Call your builder.

We live in a townhome complex and any unit with a half moon window has cracked. These townhomes are only 2.5 years old. Mason will not warranty any of them. A good company would recognize that this is not coincidental and replace to save face. These guys won't. Stay away unless a 2.5 year lifespan is acceptable to you.

Most window companies do not warranty cracking beyond 1 year. There are many factors that can cause cracking.Try taking your car in for a windsheild replacement in two years and see what you get for free.

Similar to all the other folks posting comments about Mason Windows, our situation is alarming. Rusting screws, plastics are drying out, seals are failing, hold build-up, opening mechanisms are failing. Should this product be in the market?

Similar to the other comment, I have a new house (now 6 years old) and have replaced 60% of the windows under warranty due to seal failures. They also use poor quality sealants and I now have to recaulk all of their split frame seals (not glass and not caulking to structure). Their service is terrible. WHEN you manage to get in touch with someone, its not always guaranteed that you will get an appointment booked unless you constantly call and pester them. If you have Mason windows, start putting money away every year in a savings account so you can replace them all in 10 years.

We just bought a house that's not yet 10 years old. One of the windows has a failed seal. The rest of the windows are such poor quality that they have lots of condensation in cold weather. After contacting Mason Windows (all the windows are made by Mason), they said the warranty is only 5 years. So now we are stuck with having to replace the window ourselves. Mason doesn't even have a website, but is hiding behind a voice on the phone. Make sure to stay away from Mason Windows! We never had this problem in our 30 year old house with 30 year old windows!
Run away! Almost any other window manufacturer would be better, based on this experience.
