Great service, from pre-sales phase all the way to execution and project wrap-up. I was impressed at the level of detail the Cooper team provided during the roof install via their nightly status update. Pricing was comparable to other big players out there. The guys who go up on the roof to install were great bunch of guys who know what they were doing. Treated them to Tim Hortons once for the work they were doing 👌.

Overall, a happy customer here. Definitely would recommend Cooper to people I know.

Very disappointing experience. Our estimator told us we were hiring a premium roofing company. The quality of the install did not live up to that promise, in my opinion. Here are the three major issues I had with this company...

1. As mentioned the quality of the install was not as good as we were told it would be, in my opinion. Below you can see a photo of a roofer installing shingles directly on bare plywood. This was done in two different places (that we know of). When this deficiency was pointed out, the roofer came back and only fixed half of the problem. There are other photos below that show the other area where no membrane was installed under the shingles in addition to the area that was supposedly fixed but is still missing membrane on one side. Strangely, both of these areas are the easiest to reach of any place on the roof... Also below are pictures showing how crooked the roof edges were left in many places as well as how they left one corner of the garage roof.
2. Invoice inaccuracies. The final invoice included around $550 worth of charges for work that was never completed as it was deemed unnecessary. It was left to me to discover these mistakes and point them out to their office staff despite the fact that the project manager had assured me the charges would not show on the invoice.
3. Lack of transparency/poor communication. Unfortunately there was a change order issued by the company due to their inability to get the materials onto our roof with a crane. This change order added approximately 20 percent to the cost of the project. We were given no advanced warning to expect a change order of any kind, let alone one for thousands of dollars. It is my opinion that, in these circumstances, the right thing to do would be to immediately call a meeting between all parties involved in order to discuss what has happened and what needs to be done moving forward. As mentioned, this did not happen. Instead, we just got an unexpected email with a substantial invoice for the change order.

Eventually, the membrane deficiencies (that we are aware of) were met and the cosmetic ones were attended to (mostly to our satisfaction). All in all, this was quite an unpleasant experience. We are relieved to put this behind us and are hopeful that the roof will be trouble free in future.

Edit. The owner of the company has responded below and has taken responsibility for much of what happened, which I appreciate, but has made some statements that require further clarification in my opinion.
1. He mentioned that the items not completed on the invoice were removed. This is correct, however it is worth noting that the items were removed because I identified them, notified the office staff about the errors and told them to remove those charges from the invoice.
2.. He mentioned that a $2000 discount was applied to offset the additional cost of the change order. While we appreciate the discount, it is worth mentioning that this amount was not offered freely to us. It was negotiated after I called him to voice my displeasure with how the situation had unfolded.
3.. Yes, unfortunately the gutter contractor did some damage to the roof. However, to my knowledge, Cooper Roofing did not repair the damage or cover the cost. Cooper's quote to do this was roughy $1800 which the gutter company felt was very high, so they chose to do the repair themselves. I was on site with the gutter company while they conducted repairs to the areas they damaged. I have emails to confirm this, including one from Cooper stating that the damage to the roof had been repaired to an acceptable standard by the gutter company.
4. While I respect that he admits that they made a mistake with the crew and is no longer working with them, I would like to point out that it was on me to discover and point out their poor workmanship. Yes, the company followed through, but only because I found the problems and insisted they be rectified. The majority of the deficiencies that I pointed out were discovered after Cooper completed final inspection and issued an invoice.

Cooper Roofing asked if we could fix this heritage chimney for them before they replaced the roof for the client. They were very clear and professional during the whole process. Excited to see the final result with the new roof on. I would be happy to work with them again!

From quote to completion the Cooper roofing team was great!

They are very professional: informative, organised, thorough and clean.

I was amazed the roof was completed in only two days.

They were the only company that said they could install the new roof without removing and replacing the gutters.

I chose Cooper Roofing because they impressed us with detailed estimates, helpful staff, and top notch professionalism. Sebastian did a great job of describing the work and made us feel reassured. Their workers were quick and friendly, and Volkan was very knowledgeable and helpful.

When the job was done, the final inspection report was detailed and provided lots of photos and overhead drone shots. We are satisfied that we have a quality roof that'll last many years (if not the rest of our lives). I will add that Cooper was actually the highest price of all our estimates, but we still feel we got good value for the money.

One caveat though: Cooper takes no responsibility for interior damage and they state that right in their contract. We had our skylight replaced and the new skylight removed the old interior trimming, leaving some bare wood and gaps exposed. When we asked Cooper if they could add a decorative strip to cover these gaps, we were surprised that they told us to go find a drywall contractor to finish the job! This after the thousands of $$$ of business we gave them. We also received conflicting reasons why they didn't include the trim.

However after some negotiating, we arrived at a solution satisfactory to both parties, even though it wasn't 100% what we expected. But it's close enough and we consider the matter closed.
