La Petite France has been catering to Toronto diners since 1986. Over the past eighteen years Didier and his team have consistently thrived in providing authentic French cuisine at reasonable prices. Over the past eighteen years Didier and his team have consistently thrived in providing authentic French cuisine at reasonable prices. Didier trained in Strasbourg, France in the mid 70's and arrived in Canada in 1978. Within four years he opened a bakery "La Friandise" in uptown Yonge Street and La Petite France opened its doors in October 1986. In its first year it was hailed by David Kingsmill of the Toronto Star as "a taste to remember", and by 1990 was named one of the "top five restaurants in Suburbia" by The Globe & Mail's Joanne Kates. A recent visit by one of the early employees sums it all up: "After all these years, La Petite France has remained the same". Read more
