Room smelled like old cigarette smoke, and the carpets were very old and dirty appearing. Repainting and replacing the carpet would likely take care of the smell. Otherwise room seemed clean, just very dated, especially in the kitchen area. The drain stopper in the shower/bathtub was broken when I checked in, but it drained fine.

Great location on Fort Sam Houston right next to the NCOA. But that's all it has going for it. This is an old building that has had little to no refurbishing done. The rooms were very moist from constant AC without ventilation or proper drainage. The carpet was wet and as soon as I entered the room it reeked of mold/mildew. I ended up sick from it and asked to be moved to which the manager seemed annoyed. I was ignored/forgotten for days until I spoke with someone else at the front desk. Both of my rooms had issues from very warn carpet, missing tiles or paint, to clearly outdated outlets, loose faucets, and even a dead cockroach. It is crazy to me that this is an IHG hotel and the amount paid to stay here when the building is in such a bad condition.

Beds were super comfortable and the room itself was clean. The hallways were not clean. Water in my room only got lukewarm (which was fine because it’s the middle of summer but might be an issue in the winter). A/C struggled a lot. It is essentially a barracks room with a TV and a nicer bed. Would not recommend if there for leisure travel. Is adequate if the government is paying.

Convenient & safe location. Appreciate being in base. Breakfast was great. Rooms were fine & clean but the drain in both rooms we had didn’t function well and one room had ants. Staff didn’t seem surprised when I reported it but did put in a work order. Would give it another shot but a pretty “okay” experience.

I stayed at this hotel around August 2023, and I had an enjoyable experience.

The building is safe, the rooms had clean bed sheets and clean towels, and the A/C worked great. The sink was perfect for getting ready in the morning, and I used the kitchenette for my groceries during my weeks-long stay. The front-desk staff were very kind and the coffee served in the morning is convenient and not too bad. The washers and dryers came in handy during my stay, too.

Overall, a very safe, convenient, decent-quality good hotel.
