The most rewarding part of my work is educating patients about their diagnosis and celebrating their progress during follow-up visits.My clinical interests include sports medicine, trauma and the aging athlete. I believe in “walking the walk and talking the talk” — I’m a seven-time Ironman competitor and have completed 38 marathons. As both a seasoned practitioner and athlete, I’ve either seen it, had it or treated it, which strengthens my connection with patients.I enjoy hearing each patient’s story and working with their strengths to build a healthier lifestyle. I’m a cheerleader for every patient and their family. With 49 years in Orthopedics, I’ve had countless experiences that shape how I care for others. One of the most memorable is helping injured athletes stay fit and ready to return to sport through collaboration with their coaches and trainers.I’ve managed many ACL injuries and believe that education and teamwork with patients, families and support staff are key. I’ve also diagnosed eating disorders and Lyme disease in patients with joint swelling — solving these puzzles and guiding patients back to wellness is deeply fulfilling.Outside of work, I’m an endurance athlete who loves swimming, biking, running, alpine skiing and skinning mountains. I’ve been ranked #1 in the USA for my age group in Ironman and now enjoy mentoring newcomers to the sport. I also love traveling, spending time with family and being near mountains and water — my happy place.I recently completed the two-year Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching program at UVM and now help clients discover their “best self.” Connecting with their inner strength and celebrating their growth is incredibly rewarding.
