i can't even give them one star. I worked for this company for 3 years in sales and marketing. Thought I was joining a team that really want to make a difference in people's lives. Sadly they are only concerned about lining their shareholders pockets.
They let photos people go constantly. You cannot express your opinion or be yourself. Conform or pack up.

My mother has been a resident of a Chartwell Seniors home for many years. Each year her rent has increased by 3% or more although the inflation rate in Canada has never been over 2%.
About half of her monthly dues is for rent which increases annually by the allowable cost of living increase. However the cost for the "Care Services" goes up by 3.5% or more each year. I find it difficult to believe that the cost to Chartwell for the services should go up each year by almost double the inflation rate.

I've been told the food would improve but it never did and some of the services were cut despite the increase.

Most seniors live on a fixed income and in time can no longer afford the rent increases at the residence.

The quality and nutritional value of the food at my mother's Chartwell residence is very poor. We have been told that all Chartwell facilities have the same menu each day. That is too bad. Ingredients are cheap and unappetizing. Processed food is served too often and there is very little cooking from scratch. Fresh in season vegetables and fruit are seldom served, for the most part the vegetables are frozen mixes and the fruit is canned. Despite feedback from residents' meetings about their dissatisfaction with the diet, things have not changed.

Fortunately the front line staff are wonderful and the location is ideal. But the elderly deserve good, tasty, nutritious food.
