We had high hopes with our daughter entering their program. Unfortunately their were some issues that arose. These were beyond the capabilities of the staff at Saleh house, this is where things got bumpy. There was a release of information on file and staff failed to communicate on more than one occasion citing there was no release on file. She was discharged from their care to a hospital. This is when saleh house determined she was no longer a good candidate for their program. They dropped her belonging off at the hospital. Called us and said we will drop her belongings off to her at the hospital and you'll need to pick her up there today. If she has to wait its a nice place. Mind you were 3.5-4hrs away mind you it was managed but not after some frantic rearranging of schedules and figuring out what comes next. As they suggested a transfer and also started the process but dropped the ball there as well.

I graduated Selah about 15 years ago. Wowza. Life before Selah was chaotic, stressful, and I was MAJORLY obsessed with body image and working out. I was trapped. When I first got to Selah, I instantly felt love and nurture. I learned and was modeled what normal eating was.... that helped me tremendously. I know my faith in Jesus was the number one reason I am in recovery now AND Selah definitely assisted in my recovery as well. I know this is not the case for all, but I never looked back at my old eating disorder when I left. (No shame if you have had treatment and relapsed, sometimes that just happens.) I gave up the gym 15 years ago and have not stepped back in. I now do moderate walks here and there and I allow physical activity to be fun! I am rooted that I am not my image... I am a child of God. 1 Timothy 4:8. Recovery is possible, one hundred percent possible. Blessings, Ashley

Selah saved my life. Literally. Coming to Selah was the best decision I have ever made. Although, this was a hard decision, it was the right one. When I came to Selah I was so scared of the unknown and also of being away from my family and friends for an extended amount of time. The selah staff helped in this fear of being scared so much. The staff are very hands on when comforting in situations when I needed it the most. There are so many wonderful parts about Selah, but I will just list a few. One of the best things about Selah is that the program is Christian based. Having Christ in the center of my recovery was needed. There are so many Christ centered events that it truly makes recovery possible. Secondly, another great part of Selah is the Equine specialist, Marcie. Man, Marcie is so wonderful and meets people where they are at and brings them up in the best most positive way. She is so encouraging, comforting. Her hugs are amazing, but, her wealth of knowledge and understanding is nothing like I have ever experienced. She is awesome.
Thirdly, I cannot express the team aspect of having a great dietician and wonderful therapist. I loved both my dietician and therapist. They were both knowledgeable and pushed in the best way possible for me to be the best I could be.
Lastly, Selah gave me my life back. Selah will always hold a special place in my heart and life forever. Selah is so special to me and I will cherish the memories of the hardest time of when I came to Selah, but the most rewarding time leaving Selah and the memories of being here helped me to have freedom. I am free and I am redeemed.
Selah is wondering.

Selah House not only helped me through a dark time in my eating disorder, but gave me the strength and encouragement to face it head on. The home-like setting felt safe and made it easier to put recovery first. The different kinds of therapy helped me recognize how stuck I was in my ed. My favorite therapy was the equine therapy with Marcie, but I also loved the groups we would do. I’ve been in recovery for 7 years this month, and life is great. I’m working toward my own goals while staying involved in Selah’s alumni program. Being part of the alumni program has given me the opportunity to help others who are currently receiving treatment at Selah House, and those who are needing extra help in their own recovery. I’m able to volunteer with clients and give them the encouragement I’ve gotten through Selah. Kayla, the alumni coordinator, has always been a hands on support system for me and several others, and the alumni program wouldn’t be what is without her.

selah may not have been able to heal me from my eating disorder, not because their work and people aren’t great, but i believe because i have very deep internal issues i’ve struggled to work on myself for years. the program improved a lot from 2022 to 2024 (my two stays). obviously the program had its issues and iffy staff members, but overall the nurses and techs made me feel so loved. nancy, hailey, sydney, jess, christi, maggie, marcie, kati and chris the chaplain are amazing people. thank you guys for making me feel like a person.
