I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the State Farm Insurance company office operated by their agent, Brian Davenny. I was a customer of his office for decades. I recently had a disastrous experience involving a contractor named Jake Leahy from J. Leahy Construction Inc., and I want to share how this insurance company and agency failed me in this critical situation.

In February 2023, I hired J. Leahy to replace our deck and fix our roof. However, instead of carrying out the agreed-upon work, he instead broke into our home and caused extensive damage to our property by demolishing our bathrooms, ruining our floors, and tearing down walls to the studs, all during the harsh winter months.

We immediately contacted the Tacoma Police, who provided us with an official detailed report outlining Jake Leahy's criminal activities. To our shock, we discovered that this contractor had a long history of felonies. We promptly reported the incident to our insurance company, providing all the necessary evidence, as required by our policy.

Throughout this ordeal, State Farm consistently denied our claim, demonstrating a shocking lack of empathy and professionalism. I vividly recall one interaction with a young woman from Davenny's office who heartlessly remarked, "He did such a beautiful demo! You're like, so lucky." Such a response was not only callous but completely dismissive of the trauma and loss my family endured.

Due to the extensive damage caused by J. Leahy Construction Inc. and the subsequent denial of our insurance claim, we were forced to vacate and sell our beloved home for the mere price of the land. We had no other option but to rent a property, and this unfortunate turn of events has now made it impossible for me to retire as planned.

Adding to our frustration, the legal process to seek justice is significantly delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. It is evident that State Farm insurance company is exploiting this lack of legal enforcement, leaving vulnerable senior citizens like myself without recourse.

I am sharing my experience as a warning to other senior citizens in Tacoma. I hope that they can learn from my unfortunate situation and choose an insurance provider that truly values its clients and fulfills its obligations in times of need.
