She attended Howard University where she obtained a D.D.S. degree in 1985. After practicing general dentistry for 5 years, Dr. Ricks returned for specialty training at the University of Iowa. Dr. Ricks completed a Fellowship in Oral Maxillofacial Radiology and received a certificate in Endodontics and a Master's of Science Degree in Endodontics in 1993.
