Transparency is the bare minimum for a bank, and Truist absolutely failed.
Truist is holding my paycheck for under $300 from a major company for over a week without any real warning. The app only says “except for holds,” but gives no criteria, no explanation, and no notice that new accounts under 90 days get automatic holds. Nothing said the check cannot be canceled once deposited.

When I asked for help, they offered nothing except scripted apologies. No solutions at all—just “sorry,” while I’m left unable to use my own money for basic needs.

This feels deceptive and like a trap for new customers. I strongly recommend avoiding Truist if you expect transparency, honesty or help when problems arise.

I only come here because my job requires us to take daily deposits. The only reason they deserve even one star is because the staff is so nice. They’re ALWAYS understaffed!! I mean 1 teller with 10+ people in line? People can barely fit in the building to wait. A 45 minute wait to absolutely insane. It shouldn’t be this hard. I always tell people this bank sucks if they talk about opening new accounts or anything. Do better yall

I don’t know how to leave a review for Truist as a whole, so I’ll put this on my local one. The fees are constant and unforgiving. I’m looking to start the daunting process of switching banks because this institution is built against poor people. I am ALWAYS waking up to some sort of maintenance fee from both my savings or my checking, and this morning that maintenance fee put me in the negative so I’ve got to find some money to deposit a day before pay day so I don’t also get hit with a $35 overdraft fee on top of my $12 maintenance fee. I shouldn’t have to be fighting against my own bank account to try to get myself out of a bad place financially.

This location is always understaffed. Expect a 10-15 minute wait while a manager sits nearby staring at a computer screen.

Update: I returned recently and the manager recognized me as the person with the problematic EFS check my employer uses. She met me in line and offered to get it authorized before I got to the teller. Thanks for the awesome customer service. 😊
