Tropical installation
I installed approx 12000 tiles on three separate roofs in the Bahamas. The warranty claimed that the tile was able to sustain winds up to 180 kilometers an hour. Patrick Smith and his son visited my location and judged the installation was excellent, when pressed on the warranty issue I was assured by Patrick Smith if needed they would stand by their product. As is known we were hit by hurricane Dorian, a major hurricane. I reached out to Patrick Smith who offered to cover replacement cost of the initial 500 tiles which we estimated as missing, upon further inspection the the estimate was 3000 tiles. I communicated with his son Connor, I was informed that he could not match the color furthermore replacing the missing tiles was a problem. I was advised to remove the entire installation of 12000 tiles and re-install mixing in the non-matching tiles which is totally unacceptable. All this at my cost and was also informed that not only would they not cover the 3000 missing tiles but also reneged on the offer to cover the initial 500 tiles promised. I reached out to an engineer friend who inspected the tiles and judged that the installation instructions of 7 to 9 inch exposure was incorrect. The tiles should have been installed at 4 to 5 inches at most. Now they have revised their installation instructions accordingly. They refuse to call me back or speak with me and suggest legal recourse which is only permissible in courts located in their location.... waste of time. Had I been advised to all of the above it would have made a difference on my decision. Their actions speak loudly to their honesty and integrity. The difference in cost due to the difference in installation instructions is approximately 35% more tiles,which is ridiculous...Buyer beware!!!!!

Dominic, we would like to re-confirm that our limited lifetime warranty does not include hurricane damage. We were in touch with you and went above and beyond our requirement to fulfill any warranty claim, and offered 500 replacement tiles at no cost, even though we are not liable for hurricane damage. You then came back and notified us that you wanted 3000 complimentary tiles. This was not what we had agreed to and thus let you know we would continue to provide the 500 free tiles, but you would be responsible for purchasing the remaining tiles needed. Enviroshake had multiple conversations with you, and unfortunately your desire to have us provide 3000 tiles at no cost was not something you were willing to acquiesce on. The recommended installation exposure for Enviroshake is between 7-9”, all third party wind tests including Miami Dade, were tested at the standard 9” exposure. There is no need nor do we ever recommend clients to install beneath the 7”. We have made no changes to our installation guide. Hurricane Dorian had sustained wind speeds while over Abaco over 185 MPH for many consecutive hours. It was tied to a 1985 labour day hurricane, for the highest wind speeds for an Atlantic hurricane ever recorded at landfall. Enviroshake has been installed in the Caribbean for over 10 years, with many clients having experienced hurricanes including hurricane Irma and Maria with wind speeds over 180 MPH, and the clients were extremely happy with the performance of their roofs in the most extreme conditions. Where there was hurricane damage to any roofs, Enviroshake supported the clients in getting their replacement material. Enviroshake stands behind our product, our testing data, and our will to assist our clients.

I left numerous messages and Emails trying to get some help because of all the issues as mentioned above. No return calls. Regardless of the answer received, I was never told that color cannot be matched and repairs are not permanent, the integrity of the roof remains compromised once you loose a tile. My complaint is that you must remove all the existing tiles and re-install otherwise you are left with a patch work of color and loose tiles which will blow off . There are three sides to every story I stand by my version. I have12000 tiles installed the cost of removal and reinstalling is very costly. Again had I been advised to all of the above there would be no enviroshake installed on my roof. READ THE WARRANTY and get them to address the problems stated above before you buy.....

So when I contacted Enviroshake and asked about our roof of 10 years they told me due to a bankruptsy from Wellington Polymer Technology Inc that they didn't have to honor the warranty. But Wellington Polymer Tech did not file bankruptsy but rather is a subsideray of Allmet roofing products that they are still using. Besides that the addresses and the phones are the same as Enviroshake now. Not sure what they are doing but I certainly will follow up with the Attorney Generals Office! Especially now that I know they didn't tell me the truth. Does anyone know the real owner of Enviroshake at this point? I would love to have that information.

We would also like to clarify some information, Wellington Polymer did in fact declare bankruptcy, and was never a subsidiary of Allmet Roofing Products. In fact, Allmet Roofing products was a subsidiary of Headwaters Inc, who had purchased Enviroshake in December 2015. Prior and current ownerships have maintained doing business as Enviroshake, including keeping the brand name, as well as the head office location and contact numbers in order to mitigate any disruptions to regular business.

We installed Enviroshake on the roof of our new house in 2004. Expensive compared to other products but we thought we'd never have to worry about roofing again...how wrong we were. The roof started disintegrating around 2010. Now we have holes in the Enviroshake tiles everywhere. The new owner of Enviroshake, Headwaters, through some legal agreements has avoided having to honor any of Enviroshake's warranties pre-2009, and they don't! Buyer beware, advise investigating similar problems others have had with Enviroshake and Headwaters.

No the matter is not resolved. My roof continues to deteriorate. Many of the tiles are almost completely disintegrated...after 15 years the roof is completely shot. Started falling apart after only a few years.

We purchased Enviro Shakes because we never wanted to replace our roof on our new build 11 years ago. We now have holes everywhere on our roof and we need to re-shingle. Warranty was suppose to be when we purchased for a life time. Now when you read the fine print your warranty is only effective 2010 and on ward. When we contacted company 3 years ago they told us if it wasn't leaking thru your roof they won't replace any shingle. This roof costs three time the $$ to install. Would not recommend this roofing material as it stains your house and gutters and when you sit on your patio the shingles give off a sandy dust in all your food and drinks. Think before you purchase this product.

I manage a roofing company on the west coast of Canada and this is our first time dealing with Enviro and our last. We have ordered from there enviro shingle line which only contains two colors and takes one month to make and ship from them to us. They have had to ship us the order twice because they keep sending us the wrong color. The first time they did this they said it was our fault that we picked the wrong color. We tried talking to their rep but he told us that he wanted nothing to do with it. Now we still have not got anywhere with them and now realising their mistakes they don't want to do anything for the home owner. We will never deal with them again. I only gave them a half a star because the program made me but I wouldn't even give them that.
