I also went with a friend as part of Winterlicious. We found there is no special Winterlicious menu, you just choose your 3 course meal from the regular menu. This is a good idea, as it allows you to judge what the restaurant is like at normal times (and the chef doesn't get bored stiff preparing the same dishes for 2 weeks).
I ordered the calamari and my friend the caesar salad. Both were quite good. As a main dish, I had the salmon with wasabi sauce. This was a discovery: they paired wonderfully together. My friend had the baby ribs, and was so enthusiastic he insisted I try a bite. The meat fell off the bone and was full of flavour. The portions were just right. My friend had tried a very prestigious and very expensive restaurant the week before. He felt the portions were twice the size and a third of the price at Cantine, and the food even better.
The restaurant featured 4 wines at a very good price, but I can't comment on them as we choose a wine from the regular wine list.
We arrived at 6:00 pm and were not rushed until the next party arrived at 8:00 and they needed our table. Given the busy-ness of most restaurant during Winterlicious, this is something I can understand.
Altogether a good experience.

Tried this restaurant as part of Summerlicious with friends. The restaurant is a small storefront on Avenue Rd. just north of Bloor, and is next door to a small fruitstore. You might miss it if you're not looking. However, inside the restaurant is nicely decorated-contemporary.

We ordered off the Summerlicious menu. I found the appetizer to be the best part of the meal. I had the polenta/cheese appetizer which was delicious, but VERY small. Chicken main dish-fair size portion but not big on flavour. Berries with mango sorbet for dessert. silver.n49.ca had the steak - not the finest cut, but ok.

Overall the meal was just OK. Don't think I'll be returning. Portions were small, but this might be just the summerlicious dishes. Service was very rushed. As we were two couples, we would have expected some time to share some wine and chat between courses. Not even any time to order another glass of wine.
