He also earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Iowa. After completing a residency in orthopaedic surgery at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, he performed a fellowship in spine surgery at Texas Southwestern Medical School. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Hopp joined Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance in 1988. He specializes in Lumbar and Cervical Spine Surgery. He is a member of the medical staff at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, Centennial Medical Center and Saint Thomas West Hospital. While at Chapel Hill, Dr. Hopp conducted a research study on the Medical Strength of Long Bone Defects Treated with Various Grafting Materials.
