I went in here to look at some coins. When I asked to look at a coin in the showcase I was told if I wasn't going to buy it he wasn't going to take it out.

Too many coin store owners play little games when people come in to sell them an item. The 'how much do you need', 'how much do you want' game is played out so many times, in so many situations. Why do some coin dealers think that the public is so stupid, and unaware of what they have? Peter doesn't take this position. How would you you feel if a coin dealer paid you significantly less than a coin's value- would you return? Not likely! Honest prices paid may cut into the bottom line (a coin dealer still must make a profit- the lights don't magically stay on by themselves, bills need to be paid). However, paying a fair price, and establishing a long term relationship with their customers, is what has kept Bay Coins & Stamps in business for so many years, while so many other coins stores in Toronto have simply vanished.
For foreign currency exchange, the buy/sell rates are posted right there, in full view, and updated as necessary. No surprise fees- NO TICKET FEE AT ALL!, and no minimums. Try getting that type of service at other foreign exchange counters, or your bank!
