It is not a scam. I worked there for several years even though ALL co workers were a nightmare. And to all this who say get a real job, it is a real job and pays well. I believe that u catch more flies with honey and I like to be nice to ppl. I enjoyed helping ppl make financial plans and counselling them through rough times of their life. For this I got fired. U think its hell getting those phone calls? Try working there. Management will hire all their family and friends, and intimidate u at ur job everyday (not to mention giving u shit for trying to help someone). If they treat u like crap when they call u, tell them they can't call u anymore. After that, it is illegal for them to contact u via phone. Get their collector license number and call the ministry of consumer affairs to complain. Side note: it's difficult for complaints to b carried thru properly

That is completely untrue. I work in collections. Accounts are statute barred after 6 years from the date of the last payment. After this amount of time the account cannot be legally collected, nor can it show on your TransUnion or Equifax credit reports. Whether or not the debt has been "bought" by a collection agency they still have to follow the laws.

Just a little note on the comment, it all depends on the province you are in. Quebec has no statuory of limitations, Ontario you can not post against credit after 2 years but you can actively call on the debt. Most collection agencies don't buy the debt.

You have your proverbial bottom feeders that will harass, threaten and bother you to death, a "real" agency stops and adheres to legilsation of province but not the losers of the world like...well you know who I am talkinig about!

Yes, this company is *legit*. The reason why your account from many years ago went to collections is because the debt was so old that a debt purchasing company baught it from Bell Canada so they could collect your balance. After bell doing so, they would no longer have your account on file, so they might not have your information anymore if you call them. Collectors can collect a debt for as long as possible. There is no law stating they can't even after 7 years.

I got a phone call saying call back, same as everyone else voice mail with no one to talk to. So I pulled my credit report to check and see if I was behind on anything and just as I though I wasn't. So I don't know if they are a scam or not all I know is they are bothering the wrong guy.

At our company we use recover corp to cover debts. They purchase the debt from us and collect the cost for themselves. They aren't scam artists, they just don't care about what month of your Bell bill you did pay or didn't. If you ask what bill you had owing and they tell you, then call THAT company and get the details. The collections agency doesn't give a crap about the details. They want their money.
So complain their are jerks....thats their job. Have you ever met a collections company you DID like?

Actually, these people helped get a debt taken off my credit report...shaw cable said they had an outstanding debt from me and after searching for a month I was forwarded to recover corp by shaw cable to have this taken off, as i had more than enough proof that it wasn't my bill. Do your homework people, and ask lots of questions.

We received a letter dated 10/07/2009 from these people on June 9/09 telling us that we owe $75.00 for a Columbia House bill. We also have not had anything to to with Columbia House. When we called them they said that they bought the debt from Columbia House and gould give us no details about the bill. Said that the bill was from an address that we lived at over 6 years ago. They also threatened to take us to court. Told them to go ahead and I will counter alot more than they are asking for. DONT PAY these people anything, its a scam. They need to get real jobs and earn there money like the rest of us.

I think these people are scammers, they sent me a letter saying I owed Bell Canada almost $400... Yet they have no proof and give me my personal information that can be pulled off a credit check. DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING WITHOUT PROOF!

I got a letter to my new address that was apparently sold to them for a columbia house bill that I've never even heard of, and have never used columbia house... The envelope was postmarked March 23rd, and they dated the letter January 7th... I've been trying to call for WEEKS and it keeps going to a voicemail... What the hell kind of collection agency has all calls forward to voicemail?... I still haven't heard back...

I just dealt with a representative of Recover Corp named Alexia. She apparently was not happy that I paid my bill ($150) to Shaw rather than to her and continued to call me and threaten to send my account to the Credit Bureau. She actually yelled at me on the phone when I asked her what I was expected to do about it as I had already paid the bill in full. A very nasty and unprofessional women. Shoul dnot be working in any sort of customer service-or is in dire need of training.

This place is terrible, all telephone numbers for this company simply lead the "general voice mailbox " where they tell you that someone will promptly call you back, however don't hold your breath as I'm on my 5th call to these people and I've yet to receive a call back. Horrible horrible service, absolutely terrible.
