Last day before camp so we gave into the kids and headed off to Canada's Wonderland. Even with Toronto kids out of school, on a Thursday the lines aren't that bad - go on the weekend and you will spend 3/4 of your day in line-ups.
While we did have a great time (check out the video), there were 2 big disappointments.
1. MOST of the water slides were closed cause they depend on lifeguards that are still in school. Well for $50 per person - We want ALL the water slides open - not just three!
2. While they do have a Mr Sub, Pizza Pizza and a couple other fast food chains, overall the food STILL sucks - and now they will no longer let you bring in your own food - it's confiscated on entrance forcing you to buy their crap. They did advertise the new "Marketplace Restaurant", but that was just a mediocre looking and very overpriced buffet.
STILL - the rides were awesome - and even the shows were much better than expected. Debsil.n49.ca and Hailey.n49.ca loved the ice show while corey.n49.ca and I conquered a couple of coasters. We all were amazed by the trampoline/diving show. OK so it ain't cheap - but it doesn't disappoint.

Ugh! What a pain in the butt. I feel your pain about not being able to bring food into the park. My family and I used to pack a cooler and leave it in the car, then when we were hungry we would exit the park and have a little picnic lunch just outside the gates, they have grass and stuff so it worked! Other then not being able to bring in food, Wonderland is one of my all time favourite places.

i hear ya about the food. lack of selection AAAAND overpriced. but hey, who am i to complain...whenver i go to wonderland i treat myself to a funnel cake; something id pay an arm and a leg for! also, i highly recommend trying the extreme sky flyer (that bungee jumping thingy near the entrance of the park) once the kids are older. although it costs more money to go on it, its worth it for the rush!

I don't think the rule about bringing in food is new. It's been there for as long as I can remember - probably since the park opened. And they do provide picnic tables for those who are prepared. I haven't been there in a few years, but they even used to have a kosher hot dog/fries place in Hanna-Barbera land!

I have to agree, Wonderland on a weekday was great. Very few line ups allowed us to do a lot. The shows were worth the price of admission. In the Paramount Theatre, there is an ice skating show. The choreography is well done for the small area they have to work with, as well as numerous, colourful scene changes. The diving and trampoline show a short walk from the theatre was excellent. I have to agree that the food has not changed. As a season pass holder who comes at least once a week, I would be very upset to have to eat the park food. Burgers, fries, pizza and chicken fingers - not healthy selections. The only place to get fruits and salads is at the new Marketplace buffet. But who wants to pay $19 per adult for a large buffet in the middle of the day, when all you want is a salad and an apple? All in all though, a fun time for the whole family.
