My research encompasses immune protection from HIV transmission and tuberculosis, vaccine immunology, tuberculosis epidemiology, medical education and clinical and organizational ethics.Beyond scholarly publications, I have written about compassionate care and clinical ethics for The New York Times, Washington Post, STAT, Atlantic and beyond. At UVM Larner College of Medicine, I teach medical students and others about ethics, infectious diseases and public health.
