I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Dr. Abhishek Ray on January 7, 2025. I scheduled an office visit, paid $60 out of pocket to get there, and was dismissed within two minutes. Dr. Ray informed me during the appointment that he would not be accepting me as a patient—something that could’ve easily been communicated in advance with a phone call or message.

Instead, he allowed me to show up just to say, “You’re in good hands with your neurologist, Dr. Michael Kelly,” who’s with a completely different hospital system (MetroHealth). Clearly, he had reviewed my chart beforehand but didn’t bother to cancel. I was then billed $1,000 for this pointless two-minute visit. When I questioned it through MyChart, I was told it was for him reviewing my chart and the “use of the room.” On top of that, I spent $60 to get to the appointment and $50 more for a Lyft ride home—over $110 wasted for absolutely nothing.

New patients beware: Dr. Ray’s profile on the University Hospitals website is full of glowing praise, but you should know those are not reviews from real patients—they’re written by the provider or institution. UH doesn’t allow real patient reviews on his profile, which is incredibly misleading and, honestly, scammy.

I do not recommend Dr. Abhishek Ray. A doctor who wastes patients’ time, turns them away at the door, and still charges $1,000 for it is not someone I’d trust with my care. Patients deserve honesty and respect—not exploitation.
