Riviera Tapas Bar started out as a dream and then with hard work and dedication turned into a reality. It was a bumpy road, but when something is worth fighting for there is no bump that we can't overcome. We welcome you to come and enjoy our food!

What a find! Great food, lovely place and location, and Rosario (who seemed to be staffing the dining room on an early Friday afternoon in June by herself) was on top of everything. Fun to watch the trains roll by out the east picture windows (but they weren't noisy). Crab risotto balls and chocolate bombe were excellent, as was the cafe Americano. Our party of five tried quite a bit of the menu and all were pleased. Prices were lower than inferior stuff you'd get in DC. This one's a keeper.

My family has been coming here for years. Food and drinks are high quality. Service is great. Very friendly and attentive staff. Sunday brunch is our favorite. They come back to check on our table frequently to get new food and drink orders. If I could rate them 10 stars I would!

can’t say enough amazing things about Riviera Tapas Bar! My mom and I come here at least once a week, and it has truly become one of our favorite go-to spots.
The food is consistently chef’s kiss. The grilled salmon with corn salsa is absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and always fresh. We’re also obsessed with their happy hour menu. The chicken quesadilla, sweet chili wings, and chicken spring rolls are all so good that it’s honestly hard to choose a favorite!
On top of the food, the drinks are always on point—refreshing, well-made, and a great complement to the menu. But what really sets Riviera apart is the customer service. The staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel welcome every single time you walk in.
If you’re in the Riverdale area and looking for great food, drinks, and an all-around wonderful atmosphere, Riviera Tapas Bar is a must-visit. We’ll definitely keep coming back again and again!

The service here is always incredible and their tapas are top notch! My favorite thing to do is go for brunch on the weekends when they have all you can eat and drink.

Just had my first happy hour at Riviera Tapa Bar and I enjoyed it. The fact that I was able to get parking right in the front was already a good sign. The staff was super attentive—the server took the time to explain the happy hour menu, which was great. I started with the house margarita; it was perfectly balanced (not too sweet/tart) and had the right kick. I ended up getting two!
For food, the empanadas were fried perfectly crisp, though the beef filling was a touch on the dry side. But the calamari was awesome! Huge pieces, well-seasoned, and the texture was spot-on (I had never seen calamari pieces so big before). The overall ambience was fantastic, especially as the place got busy. I’d recommend checking out Riviera for happy hour. I would definitely visit again and perhaps for brunch next time, they have a pretty nice menu.

My time at Riviera Tapas Bar tonight was a singularly enjoyable experience in the 1.5 years I’ve lived in the Hyattsville area. Patricia was attentive, informative, kind, professional, engaging, and a breath of fresh air. She spoke with me in detail about the philosophy she and her husband use in running Riviera, crafting the menu (food and beverage), embracing clientele, and motivating and training staff. It was unlike any conversation I’ve had with proprietors around the world over the last two decades.
And then there was the food and drink - the stars of the show. I enjoyed a light yet filling, clean yet flavorful meal. The octopus and chorizo with fingerling potatoes was perfect. The flavors, textures, and presentation simply hit! And the crab cakes (all meat) with quinoa and brussels sprouts weren’t something I knew I needed, but I indeed needed all of it. Although tapas, the portions were significant, yet the meals were light enough that I could fully enjoy the two. The array of drinks was varied, creative, and inspiring. The pomegranate martini, the BSB with a churro to boot, and the house margarita were individual adventures of flavor and creativity. Each delivered.
And then there is the pricing. No complaints there. Reasonable and a steal of a deal. This is my new go-to restaurant, and that’s before I’ve tried their unbelievable happy hour! Looking forward to returning and trying new dishes each visit.

Today, I had the pleasure of brunch at Riviera Tapas Bar, thanks to a friend’s recommendation, and it did not disappoint!
I tried the Brioche French Toast, which was perfectly soft and topped with fresh, sliced strawberries and bananas. The warm syrup added just the right amount of sweetness. My friend had eggs Benedict with a side of fruit. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. the service was friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere made for a great dining experience. The restaurant filled up quickly, and while there was a lively buzz of chatter, it added to the welcoming vibe without being overwhelming. Overall, it was a great brunch spot, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for delicious food and a relaxed ambiance!

Came here with a good friend on a whim, I found it as a Google search to see what's fun and different to try in the area. It was a win! The drinks are amazing, nice and strong every time! The food was just as tasty, super flavorful. Staff was friendly and service was great as well. Would definitely recommend and come here again!

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place. The people are always super nice and vibes are great. My boyfriend without fail gets the shrimp and grits every time we come here. “These grits are incredible”. All the food is well priced and it comes out super quick, but it’s consistently done well every time.

Upon entering this intriguing tapas bar, I was greeted by a beautiful face, and was seated immediately. The Margarita came……fantastico! The beautiful face then broke a glass accidentally and some got near, but amazingly enough…no one was hurt! Margarita still delicious. The food came soon after, and Papa (the owner/chef) knows what he’s doing! Fresh ingredients, Familia, and a passion for great food, service, and value…..makes for a worthwhile trip. I guess The beautiful faces around here just break the ice differently!

Had my wedding catered and everything was delicious! Had customed menu and it was a swift process. Patricia was very flexible and fair with the prices and made great alternative options. All my guests enjoyed the food, specially the "marry me salmon". We've had few meals at the restaurants too and it did not disappoint. Food is always great. Highly recommended!

Love this place! Drove by it a couple of weeks ago on way to 2 Fifty BBQ nearby. We had bottomless brunch ($25). With drinks is $40. We will be back! Standout items -- bacon wrapped dates stuffed with cheese, beef empanadas, tomato bread, huevos rancheros. Nice decor, friendly helpful staff, fun atmosphere, appealing and delicious plates. Lots of 20s/30s people, but we are their parents' age and felt very welcome. What we had was a bargain. I gather people are likely to spend more during the week at dinner, esp if they have wine, but for us, this was just perfect. Well worth the drive from Bowie. We used to say "Annapolis gets all of the good restaurants," but it's getting to be Riverdale Park/Hyattsville now. They've earned it. Eager folks who want to do well. Next to Calvert Memorial Park, which is well kept up and nice to walk around.

We stopped in for a late dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of tapas. We have previously eaten at some of the "celebrity chef" tapas bars in DC. We found the food and service here to be more enjoyable.

This was an interesting place. I'm not sure how to thoroughly review it because I guess it's mixed. First and foremost the food was excellent. I love the small plates idea. I didn't care for the decor/interior and there was a piece of food on my chair when I went to sit down. I knocked it on the floor, where it stayed the entire time I was there. I understand that there restaurant will soon be moving to a newer edifice across the street from its current location, so that may help.

Visiting son at UMd for a football game and we were looing for something a little different then the usual places around College Park. Read some reviews for Riviera and took the quick drive for dinner. Our server was Ari - very attentive and an excellent server. We started with sangria and some tapas and figured we would split and entrée. We tried the patatas bravas, taco trio, pork taco, empanadas, calamari fritos and gambas al ajillo. All were excellent but the shrimp was perhaps the best we've ever had. We took Ari's suggestion and ordered an extra side of bread to soak up the amazing sauce. If we had to pick a least favorite, was probably the calamari . We had no room for an entrée and tried the flan and churros - flan was one of he best as well.
We already look forward to trying again during our next trip - there are so many items on the menu, we have a list of what we'd like next time. Prices very reasonable and loved the atmosphere of the place. We'll be back!

This is a very simple place, perhaps appears a bit tired on the outside, in a neighborhood with many empty store fronts. However, the food is fabulous and the service was prompt, kind and genuine. Keep an open mind and enjoy this gem.

Wow!!!!
I've been here 3 times in two weeks, plus ordered to-go another day. This place is a hidden gem in Riverdale. The ambiance is nice, the wait staff is attentive, and the food is delicious.
The photos are from two different trips. The shrimp tacos, tapas de salmon teriyaki, and guacamole are must-haves, but don't be afraid to experiment. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
