I purchased a mini excercise bicycle from Sears on line, paid my mastercard statement. Thus Sears has my money. Went to pickup my item and Sears refused to give me my bicycle. They wanted to swipe my card again. Well the online process says... that the card needs to be presented at time of pickup. So I presented it by allowing the clerk to view it. The clerk explained they needed to swipe it. This is against Sears policy as the website does not state that the card needs to be swiped only that it needs to be presented i.e. shown. If it really needs to be swiped then the website should state that it will be swiped. Also if it is swiped then it should state wether it is being swiped through the master card system or using a seperate system. If a seperated system then the customer should be able to witness the tranaction to insure that they are not being double charged. As the cleark wanted to swipe and would not state if they were re ringing the sale up again I refused to let them touch my card. They could only see it.The procedure of rewringing up is ridiculous as I would be charged again for the same merchandise. They did not want to see my id. They did not bother to check with a manager. They claim they need it to complete the transfaction, this is totally false as all they needed to do to complete the transaction is hand me my parcel. They also do not need to see it for security reasons either as the transaction was approved by Mastercard. If it was a fruaudulant card, lost, or stolen the transaction would have been declined. Sears Online ordering has lost my business. I will take my business elsewhere and if Sears has a exclusive item that I want I will only deal with Sears in person so I don't have to deal with your idiotic process's.
