He decided that he wanted to pursue a career in medicine to more directly help people, so left his engineering training behind and attended medical school at the University of Virginia. After medical school, he received extensive residency training in dermatology at East Carolina University, where he served as chief resident in his final year of training. He is passionate about dermatologic surgery, particularly skin cancer treatment and reconstructive surgery after skin cancer removal.
