Like most others I did not deal with my taxes when I should have at a time in life when things were not going as planned and finances, work, marriage, etc all seemed to entangle in to a world where taxes did not fit in. The ca's st mark FELDSTEIN's office helped me figure out what I needed to do in order to file my returns. I fortunately did not owe much in taxes but feel very relived that this nightmare is over.

I am using a fake name here because I am not so keen about publicizing my tax affairs but I still wanted to add my two cents to encourage others to do the same. I hadn't told anyone, including my wife, that I was behind on my taxes. Luckily I ended up getting a return so I did not have to come up with any money to pay Revenue Canada. But I was terrified for years that I would and that my wife would leave me when she found out I owed tons of money in back taxes. It's better just to deal with it so you can move on with your life and focus on the things that matter.

The CRA prepared returns on my behalf that were WAY higher than what I knew I would actually owe. It was my fault for not filing for a few years, but I am guilty of being one of those people who bury my head in the sand and hope it goes away. I was thrilled when they (the accountants) told me that they would talk to the people at cra for me and that I did not have to answer (or avoid, who am I kidding) the phone calls from them. They bought me time to get my sh*t together and file while keeping the cra people at bay. And now I am up to date and wish I had just dealt with this a few years ago.

All I can see is that I saw a lawyer first who gave me a price three times as high. They did a numer of years of returns for my HST and business and I'm mostly just glad that I finally dealt with this. I was being garnished and it was realy starting to impact my cash flow.

I waited seven years before I finally got around to addressing my tax situation. Luckily I am an employee and did not owe any tax, but the stress of knowing I had not filed was really starting to bother me. The staff gave me the advice I was looking for and did not make me feel bad about my behaviour towards the taxman.

I was 5 years behind for my business and never had GST before. They made it pretty straight forward for me to understand what I could write off and helped me get filed and work out a managble way to pay the government. I intend to go back for my next year return. Also, I had met two accountants before trying them and I found that I left my meeting with a good undesrtanding of what neded to be done.

I was quite happy with my expereince with this firm. They asked all the questions that my former accountant should have asked. They dealt with my agent so I did not have to and worked out an arrangement with her so that I can pay my taxes in a way I can afford.
