In the late 1800’s, Wm. L. Morris and his parents moved from Tennessee to California and worked on a farm in San Fernando. He and his business partner, Charles B. Chapman, ran a dealership for almost 15 years and in 1927, Chevrolet contacted Mr. Morris in regards to opening a dealership in Ventura… In the late 1800’s, Wm. L. Morris and his parents moved from Tennessee to California and worked on a farm in San Fernando. He and his business partner, Charles B. Chapman, ran a dealership for almost 15 years and in 1927, Chevrolet contacted Mr. Morris in regards to opening a dealership in Ventura County. Due to the booming citrus industry, it was decided that Fillmore would be the perfect location. The dealership was first opened in 1929 and continues to flourish today. William L Morris Sr. had two sons: William L. Morris Jr. (1925) and John Chapman Morris Sr. (1930). Today, 90 years later, Wm. L. Morris Chevrolet is still operated by the Morris family. Read more
