Dr. Hastrup specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine and has a keen interest in asthma, ultrasound and bronchial thermoplasty – a procedure that delivers thermal energy to the airways of the lungs to decrease smooth muscle and reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Hastrup studied at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Afterward, he earned his medical degree from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia, now Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Hastrup completed a residency at Boston Medical Center and a fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where he focused on pulmonary and critical care medicine. As a pulmonary and critical care specialist, Dr. Hastrup offers advanced diagnostics and innovative treatments to help his patients feel better, breath more easily and sleep well. He performs pulmonary function testing to measure lung capacity and a patient’s ability to move air in and out of the lungs. He also helps patients find solutions to improve the sleep cycle and reverse sleep-related disruption, such as sleep apnea, severe snoring, narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome.
