This review is not about the quality of food. It's average, nothing magical. It's not about the decor, or the ambiance. This review is about a crazy experience with a very rude owner. I'm not from Roseburg. I searched for a good lunch place to get a veggie wrap with a friend and my service dog. I had lunch at this spot two days before and was able to get a decent wrap. I came back. This time around was different, the owner was there. The price for my wrap was different, price for a side of beef for puppy was different. I didn't have enough money along to pay for the same order I had before. In a tight spot I opted to let go of my wrap and get my friends sdw and beef for my puppy. I stepped outsode to let friend know, they insisted we cancel the order and go where we all could eat. I stepped back in and canceled the order before it was started to be made. I waited in line to get my refund. The owner stopped helping a customer to grab my twenty, then slapped it on the counter saying here's your money and bye. She was upset clearly, but the way she slapped it down and then said bye , telling me to leave was unexpected. Once the rudeness of her processed. I took my twenty and said without emotion or anger, " you were rude." the whole thing escalated fast. She berated me that she priced the menu items herself and they hadn't changed. Then she assumed I was upset about the 18 dollar veggie wrap price. Maybe I should have been, but I wasn't upset or complaining. After being lectured I repeated myself that she was being rude. Then she got really angry and tried to draw a customer into it by asking him if she had been rude, then asked the cook. All the cook could do was repeat loudly, leave now, just leave. I think it was a warning now that I think about it. She said she hadn't been rude, but was angry now. The customer in front of me got out of the fray. Next thing I know she says she is going to call the police on me. I asked her why....for saying she was being rude? I said please do call them. It was a silly thought to think of police coming next for a simple observation of rudeness. Then she really got upset and an older waitress told me to leave now as she pushed me to the door, as the owner told me I was banned from their restaurant and could never show my face there again. It felt like a Seinfeld episode of the soup nazi. After processing the experience with my friend who saw the waitress push me out, we still couldn't understand how a comment of being treated rudely had escalated into a cook, an owner, and waitress yelling at me. I said two things...one, you were rude to me and also please do call the police. It was very strange, and in retrospect I'm glad I didn't spend 18 dollars for a spinach tortilla shell with avocado and tomatoes. That was my whole order. I went to a place after that called Bob's deli. I got an 8 dollar wrap that was very very good. My friend got their sdw for 10 dollars less and my puppy got a slice of bacon. We went to the park and had a nice lunch.
Very strange experience that is kind of funny now to think about. Don't ever tell an owner they are rude or you will be ganged up on, thrown out, banned and threatened. Maybe in her mind she wasn't rude she was being her usual self. What followed after wasn't rude, it was a bit on the crazy side. Bobs deli restored my faith in Roseburg and people. Between the buns was just a strange anomaly that I hope no one else experiences.
