After 20 years of not going to a dentist due to severe dental anxiety, I am safe to say I found my new dental home! From start to finish the staff were incredibly kind, patient and non judgmental. You can tell they love their jobs and taking care of patients. If you have any sort of traumatic dental experiences or anxiety in general this is the BEST option. They are also very up front with pricing and not pushy which is important to me as I pay out of pocket. Sydney was especially amazing as easing my worries and made sure to check on me multiple times throughout the encounter. Happy to be have found such a wonderful practice of humans.

Excellent experience in a not so excellent situation. So grateful I was able to schedule a quick appointment after cracking a tooth on a weekend, being 3 hours away from my regular dentist. I contacted Casco Bay Smiles on a recommendation from my son. Dr. McVety and his team took excellent care of me in a prompt, respectful, caring and efficient environment. Great office, very welcoming and helpful. Moved to Maine almost a year ago and honestly was overdue for an appointment. I’m autistic so I put off things like this a lot because of the uncertainty of what the experience will be like. But here it was phenomenal! They walked me through everything before and while it happened, made sure I understood before proceeding, and took care to explain everything to me in terms I could understand. They even had a TV on the ceiling so I could watch a show on netflix while they worked on my teeth. 10/10 definitely recommend this practice.

I had an amazing experience at Casco Bay Smiles! They truly went above and beyond to accommodate me and were incredibly kind, professional, and efficient. I was especially impressed that they were able to make me a same-day temporary retainer, which was a huge relief and showed how much they genuinely care about their patients. Just went in for my first cleaning. Great experience, friendly staff that care about doing a great job. Also the doctor did not jump on the opportunity to sell me Invisalign when I asked about it, and made it clear that I did not need it, though it was an option if I wanted it. I've been to dentists that felt like they wanted to push me into treatments, and did not feel that way here. Felt cared for and left happy!

My wife and I, both in our mid 70's, needed dental care. My wife was extremely anxious about her treatment. Her last dentist brushed off her concerns and made no accommodations addressing her concerns. Dr. McVety listened to her and understood what she needed and arranged IV sedation that ensured her comfort and reduced her anxiety.

I have just started a dental program with Casco Bay Smiles and am very impressed with Dr. McVety and his staff. His relaxed approach and willingness to take the time needed to assess my needs was assuring that our decision to go to Casco Bay Smiles was correct.

Always end up leaving happy after my visits here. Getting an appointment scheduled isn’t like any other dentist I’ve ever been to, they can get you in quick and they work very well with your schedule. I came here because I have dental anxiety, and each visit gets easier and easier because the staff is so friendly, accommodating and relatable. Highly recommend!

Very warm from the outset. Each staff member including Dr. McVety was genuinely personable, comforting, reassuring and respectful as if I were the most important person in the building. I felt no shame for any dental issues i came in with. The examination was totally gentle. After this my initial visit i was telling a friend that I realized I never felt rushed whatsoever. For me it was a “red letter day”! For such a clearly what i consider high end practice, the team is delightfully down to earth .. good vibes !

I normally hate everything about going to the dentist, cleanings, and any sort of teeth related activity. I recently found out that I needed more crowns and fillings. After calling around a little bit, I found Casco Bay Smiles. Since the first phone call to the consult and into my cleaning this mornin, I’ve been so very impressed with their team, their professionalism and overall care. Everyone on their team have been great so far butDani and Katelyn Have really impressed me with their knowledge and patient care.

I’ve booked a teeth cleaning for March and I am currently a lot of work to be done with them in the next 30 days. Five out of five stars for sure and I would recommend highly to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Casco Bay Smiles has the best dental care. Everyone is so friendly and professional. They keep up to date on modern practices and gentle techniques that don’t have me dreading my appointment. They have a tv on the ceiling if you don’t feel like chatting and are very prompt and efficient so I’m not there for too long. I highly recommend them for dental care.

When I moved to Portland a few years ago Casco Bay Smiles was recommended by a friend, and very happy they did! Very comfortable and friendly. I visited the office for a crown. Dr. McVety was kind and thorough, accommodating my time constraints. Unfortunately I am not local and had to fly back for the permanent crown, which didn't fit perfectly (now, the office offers same-day crowns). There was some back and forth with the forth desk, but the dentist reached out and and helped me find a workable alternative given the logistics. It meant a great deal to me. He clearly cares about his work. If I lived locally I would go to his office. Thank you for your help, Dr. McVety.

This being my first appointment at a new dentist after seeing my family dentist since I was child, I was a bit nervous. However, all the staff was super friendly and welcoming and an absolute pleasure to work with. Interestingly, Dr. McVety and his staff identified some issues that did not seem like they were recent happenings to some of my teeth and made me curious if this was something glossed over by the new dentist who took over for my retiring doctor. All in all, I can't recommend this practice enough after just one visit and I look forward to continued care with Dr. McVety and his staff!

Staff was nice but the day's description of appointment was lacking. It took two hours and i left without receiving what I came for which was a cleaning. There was no mention until after the appointment that the insurance wouldn't be accepted and wasn't in network. A lack of communication was felt throughout the experience.

I am in love with this office and the people. What an incredible experience with this dentist… but also with the front desk, and the hygienist Caitlin (sp?). She is a gem and made me feel so comfortable. They will be our new family dentist- as I could not imagine bringing my family anywhere else. 10/10, best dentist I’ve been too.
