Founded in 1978, Southern Lawns is a third-generation lawn treatment company of Auburn University agriculture graduates. We were one of Alabamaâs first local lawn treatment companies and are still locally owned and operated. Each of our staff members has ten or more years of experience individually

We have used southern lawns for 30 years with no issues until recently. We have weeds come back immediately after “treatment”. I call and they immediate send someone out. One time I was told they were told not to spray near flowers. Ok I get that but there is a rock lining the yard from the bed. Never been a problem in previous years. Plus the weeds are in all places in the yard. I will call next week to cancel. I do not think I should call ever time they come out for them to come back out. Hopefully you all can get your problem fixed

I purchased a home in Auburn University Club in March of 2025. One of the most beautiful features of the home was the gorgeous Zoysia lawn. It was pristine like a golf course in the front of our home. In an effort to maintain the beauty I secured Southern Lawns to keep our lawn beautiful. In early summer we started noticing an issue in the center of our lawn which looked like brown spot or some other fungus had begun the develop. My wife called the office and our rep came out and applied a second treatment. Instead of diagnosing the problem our technician applied another round of fertilizer. The problem continued to spread throughout our lawn and virtually destroying what was once a beautiful lawn. Despite repeated attempts to call for help, the lawn tech has been impossible to communicate with. As we closed out the year we were left speechless with how bad the lawn looked. Determined to regain my lawn this year I called the office and have made multiple attempts to contact the my representative with poor communications back at best. The office said send pics to a phone number as it goes to all techs which I did. Maurice finally responded and then recommended aeration and a fungus application which I agreed to. Then to add insult to injury they come out to aerate the lawn right after our irrigation finished in the morning and left ruts all in my lawn. Look, I am a pretty easy going guy who just wants professionalism and to be given a fair professional service for a fair price. I read back what it says on the web-site about family owned and see the overall rating and wonder what the heck happened differently with me and my lawn. I have done everything Google and AI told me to do on watering only in the mornings and have been careful how much I water Zoysia. The only thing I can think of is Southern Lawns are mostly accustomed to Bermuda versus Zoysia lawns because they destroyed mine. I will attach pics for your review. I would say run the other way and choose a company that will focus on you as an important customer versus another person they leave disappointed. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. I have secured the wisdom of ChatGPT to find a better service. I will follow up if they can fix my lawn and let you know who they are. The first pics are when I handed them my lawn this time last year. The others are how it looks this year. You might ask why in the world did you stay as long as you did. That my friend is me attempting to give them an opportunity to make it right which to this day has only gotten progressively worse. I thought based on their rating I must be missing something. Believe me, I’m not. They may have been good at one time but that has severely eroded. I am now left to go get plugs or sod repair which will likely cost me several hundred dollars conservatively. The last pics are where they showed up to aerate my lawn right after my sprinkler system ran and put ruts in my lawn which was my final straw.

Great at first then my back yard which was green and full died they tried to blame it on winter kill but agreed if I would wait 30 days and if it still was no better they would sod that area but not do business with me anymore. I was like ok thats odd but ok. Well 30 days went by still no better and no word from them I started calling them. Long story short my back yard is still dead in a huge spot I didnt even entertain this summer because of it. It looks terrible they did come out and do a so called special treatment to the area, that did not help. I did not pay for the last 2 services because of the way my yard looks, however they have turned my account over to collections. What a way to run a business when Im out and my yard looks the way it does. It will cost me $2000 to get the sod replaced.

I have NEVER seen grass so green, and full. I am absolutely amazed at how good our yard looks. The neighbors need to catch up with us & Southern Lawns! I will not use anybody other than Southern Lawns from now on. I forgot the man's name that did everything, but he went above & beyond, and I will for sure call to make sure he is recognized!
