He serves as chief of the shoulder division, vice chair for quality, safety and service, director of the Johns Hopkins Shoulder Fellowship Program and medical director of the Johns Hopkins Ambulatory Surgery Center at Howard County. Dr. Srikumaran is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery. He treats rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, instability and dislocations, fractures, sports-related injuries and persistent problems after shoulder surgery. His surgical expertise includes arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repair, bone-block procedures, biceps procedures, tendon transfers, fracture fixation, anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement and complex revision shoulder surgery. He earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed advanced shoulder surgery fellowship training through Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and international fellowship training in France. In addition, he earned a Master of Business Administration from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Srikumaran’s research focuses on clinical outcomes, value and innovation in shoulder care. His work includes rotator cuff healing and biologic augmentation, medical devices and implants, shoulder replacement, postoperative pain management and sustainable surgical care. He has participated in numerous multicenter clinical trials, is a co-inventor of patented orthopaedic technologies and has published more than 200 peer-reviewed original research articles. As director of the Johns Hopkins Shoulder Fellowship Program, Dr. Srikumaran is committed to educating residents, fellows and surgeons. He has held leadership roles with the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He also lectures nationally and internationally on advanced shoulder care.
