We are both retired and were looking for an accountant as our current accountant passed away. Schellenberg accounting is close to us and we like to support local businesses.
We dropped in and asked if they were taking new clients and asked for a rough estimate of costs for a simple tax return. The gentleman in the office said they would not give us a rough estimate of the cost of a simple tax return.
We were told to drop off our previous return and related information they would prepare the return then give us the cost which we would then have to pay.
With previous accountants we knew ahead of time the rough estimate of the costs.
We were not even given a cost range for a simple tax return.
Our visit made us feel that we would be roped in to paying excessive costs for a simple tax return. The gentleman appeared to have no interest in taking us on as clients.
Based on the way we were treated and the lack of information provided we decided not to do business with Schellenberg accounting. Based on our experience I believe it would be wise for future clients to seek accounting services elsewhere.
