Prepare yourself for a big letdown.
While Derek came close to meeting our budget for a remodel, stated emphatically that he wanted our business, and he would bring “8 of my best guys”. Approximately two months before starting the project, he brought 2 non-speaking English workers. Huh?! During this visit, I privately inquired about refurbishing a table into a desk. He was rude and evasive, and behaved as if I should know what his 2 brutish non-Englsih speaking men could do. Food for thought. A week and a half before the project was to begin, he was exhausted from a European vacation, and asked to return my call, which he did not do. Several days later, he texted: Sorry, I miss your call, I have a bad news for you sorry, They don’t want to start your job. They quit yesterday. Sorry. Huh?! Did they quit or not want to do the job? Methinks a bigger, better job came along, and our little house would be done by another, preferred company. I’m thankful for intuition and my gut feeling. It saved the day and out project. Very poor business ethics by Derek.
