Following high school, she was active in the competitive snowboarding scene until a serious spine injury forced her to the sidelines. She earned a bachelor's degree in Public Health from the University of Colorado, followed by her Master in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
