I was able to job shadow many specialties growing up and found foot and ankle orthopaedics the most interesting of all the fields with how it related to sports but also how foot and ankle discomfort can change even an ordinary person's life for better or for worse. The satisfaction of having someone in pain and cannot walk transform into the person they used to be and able to play with their kids and grandkids again is one of the best feelings one could have as a physician. My main approach to patient care is to do as little as possible for maximum results. If that means mostly conservative treatment or reconstructive surgery, I feel less is more. Sometimes in medicine, we over treat, but when we find the true underlying pathology, we can treat that and some, if not all, of the other symptoms are either more manageable or completely disappear without the need for further treatment. My clinical interests include reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, total ankle replacement, sports medicine, trauma and pediatrics. When I am not working, I continue to be an avid runner. I ran both in high school and in college at High Point University. I enjoy golf and playing basketball as well as spending time with my family whether at home or at the beach or the lake. Read more
