I believe that it is my calling in life. I love children and developing relationships with their families. Pediatricians see families through the good and bad times and have to know to connect with their families during those times. Also, I find it very fun! In what other job can anyone walk in with toys or books, dress up as superheroes or princesses, play with the kids, and make them laugh? I feel blessed and thankful that I get to do what I love everyday. My approach to patient care is to treat all patients and families with respect and understanding. I believe it is so important to the parent as well as the child to really feel heard and understood. As a pediatrician, I believe it is of primary importance to advocate for the child as well as to communicate and educate effectively to ensure the best quality of care for the child. I see the relationship between myself, the parent and the child as a partnership, and mutual trust is essential. Ultimately our goals are the same, to help ensure a healthy and happy child. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my favorite people, my energetic, fun, loving two children. They keep me very busy and entertained. Dr Soma Johnkutty is caring, compassionate and knowledgeable professional. She truly cares for the well-being of the children, which makes us (parents) confident of being under her care, she doesn’t interfere and push unnecessary stuff onto us, but when required she will thoroughly go through the action plan and discuss it those with us.
Once we moved to this location few years back have been in search of good compassionate and knowledgeable provider and moved around couple of providers under UNC itself until we met her. Most of the providers under UNC were good, but she is a gem and truly caring soul.
She is responsive to any queries you have through my chart aswell.
The location of UNC were she sees also is near to us, which has been huge bonus for us specially new born visits with our younger one, but were willing to travel for her a bit too if required.
My oldest says she want to be a kid doctor as Dr Johnkutty when she grows up :). Dr Johnkutty has that kind heart, beautiful smile, good bed side manners and a very efficient doctor.

We've been working with Dr. Johnkutty for nearly 7 years. She has been caring for one of my children since they were born. She is always quick to respond to concerns or questions, and her advise is always sound and full of heart.
