She grew up in Montreal and then relocated to South Carolina, where she received her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston. After teaching special education for several years, she returned to medical school and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina. She also completed both her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at MUSC, finishing in 2000. Dr. Simmons is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Medical Association. Dr. Simmons has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery, preventive health and diabetes in pregnancy.
