Dr. Bhatia received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. He then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and joined Prisma Health Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2017. Double board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Bhatia is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has special clinical interests in aortic surgery, valve surgery, arrhythmia surgery, transcatheter surgery and heart failure surgery, including VADs and ECMO.
