He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD where he trained at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well as Bethesda Naval Medical Center. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at a joint program between Texas Tech University and William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. He also trained at the St. Joseph Children's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Christensen served as a United States Army orthopaedic surgeon for 15 years, which included deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait, and served as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital. After two years, he transferred to Moncrief Army Community Hospital in Columbia, SC where he served as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as Chief of Surgery for 8 years.
