After receiving a BS in Biology from Loyola University, Dr. Trupia graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Columbia University Medical Center and his fellowship in surgery of the hand and upper extremity at New York University – Hospital for Joint Diseases. As an artist and former collegiate athlete, Dr. Trupia appreciates that seemingly minor orthopedic injuries can have a tremendous impact on a patient's ability to perform activities of daily life, occupation, and recreation. He therefore individualizes his treatment plans for each patient to maximize function, alleviate pain, and ultimately improve their quality of life. As an active clinician scientist, Dr. Trupia has a particular interest in developing novel techniques to improve outcomes after upper extremity trauma.
