UPDATE – JULY 2026: Bay’s response leaves out most of the timeline. The work shown in my photographs was completed in fall 2024, and the photographs accurately show the condition in which the roof was originally left.

After more than 25 emails and several visits, Bay told us in June 2025 that there were no deficiencies, that it would not return, and that the matter was closed. In February 2026, after this review had been posted, Bay wrote to the homeowner apologizing, promising to return to repair the chimney and additional flashing issues, and offering her $1,000 “for the trouble.” In the same email, Bay asked whether I could remove this Google review. To my knowledge, the promised $1,000 was never paid.

Bay eventually returned in May 2026, approximately 19 months after the original job. I was not present for a complete rooftop inspection, so I am not claiming that every part of the roof remains exactly as shown in the original photographs. From the limited inspection I was able to make, however, I could still see no conventional chimney cricket, the counterflashing still appeared to be surface-mounted rather than cut into the mortar, and the assembly continued to rely heavily on sealant. Bay says everything has now been corrected; I cannot independently confirm that.

Bay’s response also focuses on fascia work, but fascia was not the central subject of my complaint. My principal concerns involved the chimney and wall flashing, back pan, roof-edge details, exposed fasteners, damaged gutter guards and the company’s handling of the complaint. The gutter guards required corrective work after being damaged during the original roofing job.

I am leaving the original review and photographs in place because they document the workmanship initially delivered and the lengthy process required to obtain any follow-up. They are not being presented as photographs taken after the May 2026 visit. I will update the review again if the current roof is independently inspected.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: The finished “work” leaves flashing folded the wrong way, chimney metal that isn’t embedded, exposed nail heads dabbed with caulk, and an upsell on wall flashing that actually channels water toward the house. Five visits later nothing substantial was corrected; instead, three colours of sealant now hide the gaps and the caulk is already cracking after one winter.

I have more than twenty-five emails documenting every defect. After I sent a final, code-cited demand with photographs and other roofers opinions, Bay replied that the matter was “resolved” and they would not return. Hours later the owner left a voicemail telling my elderly mother he might sue me for defamation and had “contacted the police” because I was allegedly harassing them—though all I ever did was insist the roof meet the Ontario Building Code.

So here we are: no repairs, no warranty service, just threats and gas-lighting. The roof still has a finger-wide gap behind the chimney and flashing that points water into the wall. If you expect workmanship, accountability, or even basic professionalism, look elsewhere.

Had to get a repair completed on my roof from the recent wind we had. Called to make an appointment and within two days had a team come and take a look at the roof. Had Marc and Caelan come to do the repair. They were both fantastic to deal with. They were quite knowledgeable on what they would need to do for the fix. While they were on the roof they looked to see if anything else needed repair. They both communicated extremely well and finished the repair in a timely and efficient manner. Would recommend for repairing or replacing a roof. I know when the roof needs to be replaced I will contact Bay Roofing!
