This Petco store is decent. The location is between 53rd and 52nd St on 2nd Ave. It’s fairly easy to get to and the size of the store is pretty big, so they have a wide selection of products.

I give them 3 stars because their customer service needs improvement. I almost never feel welcome here and employees never ask if I need help with anything when I’m trying to find a product. Also, they never have bags (paper nor reusable). Whenever I ask, I’ve had a few different employees give me an attitude with a hard “no”.

Ok, well that’s fine if you don’t have bags for a brief period of time, but I have been going to this Petco for over a year and they never have bags and I always get an attitude back when I ask. Sometimes I come during my lunch break and I don’t bring a bag with me.

I’ve had ONE occasion when they did have bags. I was picky up a small bag of cat litter and the disgruntled female employee said “a paper bag won’t fix that. It’s flimsy and cheap.” Well, I still took the paper bag and it held my purchase all the way back to my office and even back home. So was it really cheap?

My suggestion would be to train your employees to be more welcoming and helpful instead of silent and rude, and also start restocking your store with bags.

The staff member took the time to help me choose the right pleco and carefully explained the proper care it would need. Although Petco had the feel of an older store, it was well organized, and the team was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout my visit.

This Petco is our go-to when we are not off leashing at Central Park with other dog friends. We have been coming since 2016. Today I was truly truly appreciative of everyone working at this Petco. I especially thank Francis & Allison. Francis found my black bag that contained my house keys, my ID, my dog’s ID, and a lot important items. She was able to recognize me. These items may be worthless to others, but, to me, they are extremely important. Allison assisted in keeping it safe. I was buying a LOT of toys and treats for my dog, Milo. The black bag must have slipped out. This experience shows the professionalism, integrity and care of the Petco employees at this location. We will always come back. Thank you and happy holidays!

The best clinic ever for my annual dog vaccinations. Staff soooooooo muchhh friendly again this year 2025 too. Dr Felicia Teller was so perfectly perfect for any doggo’s need. Love her and loved the place. My doggo got VIP treatment like calming treat, peanut butter, lot of petting, love before getting vaccinated. Honestly I wont leave this loving doctors and staff.

I really appreciate having this Petco nearby. It can get busy, but the variety of food and inventory is excellent—I can always find what I need because items are consistently in stock.

The online pay and pickup option is a huge plus. It’s fast, easy, can come with a discount, which is an added bonus! It also saves me from the challenge of pulling my pup away from the treat aisle at checkout.

We had my dog microchipped here as well, which was affordable and handled with care. The online sign‑up process made it simple.

Petco offers plenty of products and services for all types of pets, but as a dog mom, that’s where I focus most. Checkout is usually quick, especially with online pickup, and the staff are always friendly and available throughout the store to help.

I’ve been a loyal customer at Petco since my dog was six months old, and he’s now three years old. A few days ago, we visited this location for his grooming appointment.

Upon arrival, the computer was malfunctioning, and our information wasn’t displayed. So, the stylist, Maryna T., took out a paper and pen to jot down my details. I explained that my dog is currently fluffy and I wanted a low cut without a super fluffy face or tail. I requested that she scissor down his face and tail to give him a neat appearance, which she could achieve by shaving, brushing, and scissoring.

Maryna interrupted my requests several times and then agreed to my initial request but added additional services, resulting in extra charges for everything I wanted. Despite my assurance that she understood my request, I left feeling confident and ready to pay whatever it took to make my dog look nice.

When I arrived later to pick him up, they handed me my receipt to pay first before I could see him. Finally, when I could see him, he looked nothing like what I had requested. I didn’t even recognize my own dog. It was as if Maryna had taken a razor blade and ran it all over his body without a care in the world. She shaved him from head to toe down to the skin, leaving uneven patches everywhere. It’s cold outside, why would she shave a hairy dog this low in this kind of weather? And why?

I’m highly dissatisfied and upset with the work that was done to him. He’s not eating or socializing like he normally does. I was overcharged for additional services only for her to shave him down to the skin. PLEASE STAY AWAY AND AVOID THIS LOCATION!!!

I visited petco Store on 2nd Ave in Manhattan and had a great experience! 🐾 They have amazing prices and so many products for birds and animals. If you have a cat or dog, this store is a must-visit — you’ll find everything you need and more. The store has two floors full of options. Highly recommended!

Every time we’ve taken our pup for grooming here, we get up charged for things we clearly didn’t ask for but more importantly the things we asked for were poorly done. On our last appointment, we added the nail buffing for our pup and they’re still sharp, just cutting them is not buffing it. Will be searching for a new groomer, definitely not worth the price.
