Dr. Carter serves as the division chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Prisma Health in the Upstate. Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, she attended N.C. State University in Raleigh, earning a bachelor’s degree with a major in human biology before obtaining her medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honors Medical Society. She then completed her neurosurgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City before returning to the Southeast to finish her training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship. Dr. Carter strives to help her patients get back to their regular activities as quickly and safely as possible.
