Emily grew up in Kansas City, Kansas as well as Park City, Utah. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology and a minor degree in Public Health from the College of Charleston. She then went on to earn her Master's of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was awarded the Dean's Award and inducted into the Pi Alpha Honor Society Chapter upon graduation.
