I have been observing a flowering plant that is common in public spaces in the Santa Fe area. I noticed it mainly because it attracts so many honey bees and bumble bees. I was unable to identify the plant. I took a sample to Agua Fria Nursery to get it identified. A very cheerful lady greeted us when we arrived. Two other employees helped me identify the plant and locate one to purchase.I spoke with a fourth person, who explained to me how it was possible to propagate additional plants. Every employee I spoke with was very cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. All the staff members I meet at Agua Fria Nursery were fantastic. What a wonderful place to shop. Thank you

Would love to give this nursery 5 stars as itās the best selection and quality in town, however, the staff treatment was abysmal and Iād rate that 1 star alone.
We arrived around 4pm to buy plants and soil as the listed closing time is 6pm. To our dismay, we were informed that they closed at 5pm and the website was incorrect and outdated. We hurried our process along to be respectful and stopped at check out with our plants at 5:05pm stating we wanted a bag of soil and to check out.
When my husband was working with an associate, another came in aggressively stating ādo we have a problem? Weāre closingā completely uncalled for.
The one helpful associate came to us after we checked out to apologize and say that he felt the other handful of employees were wrong in there treatment.
After that we said hell with the soil and tried to continue to check out our plants since we had already gathered an assortment.
The urgency and lack of pride for anything other than the employees leaving as fast as possible was apparent and I called it outright.
Ownership should be aware. Weāre turned off from spending another dollar here again because of the experience. We have many options to choose from, including corporate and internet businesses, but we choose to support local. Seeing that small nurserys are dying out and we wanted to spend MORE money here, Iād advise my staff to be a bit more courteous 5 minutes after a closing time thatās incorrectly listed online.
There is no excuse in 2026 for not having an up to date online profile. Iāve run businesses and had to change settings and recover accounts many a time. GET IT TOGETHER and DO THAT to avoid situations like these if you want return customers!

Rude, rude, rude. Owner came across like heās had enough and itās time to retire. Could not be bothered, very off-put by having to answer any questions, especially about prices (even though most of the inventory isnāt priced). I patiently stood āin lineā to ask my question, he brushed over me to check someone out (again, even though I patiently waited my turn in line). I watched him check out three more folks and 15 mins later before I just asked one of his staff, who he cut off before they could answer to say, āI told him Iāll get to himā. Yeah, noākeep your overpriced product and salty demeanor, I left and had a great experience at another locally owned nursery.

They have a good selection of plants/shrubs/trees. But they are higher priced than competitors for sure. Parking is an absolute nightmare even though they have an employee in the lot trying to help. Donāt assume everything they have will survive here. Some things they carry wonāt survive here without significant protections. Look it up before buying. Iāve decided the prices and parking arenāt worth it.

They have everything you could ever think of. From everyday varieties to rare ones. Bob is an encyclopedia of plant knowledge and he along with the staff are so helpful. Im taking these all back to Oklahoma!
